James R. Long, PhD, President and CEO of 21st Century Employee Assistance Partners, Inc.
Jim is the founder and co-owner of the EAP program. Jim received his Doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh in 1982. Jim has worked in the field for over 40 years. Jim’s early leadership training came as a combat military officer during the Vietnam conflict where he established the first comprehensive substance abuse program at a 30,000 troop military installation in the Midwest during his tour of duty. This experience led to The Installation Commanders Certificate of Achievement in 1973. In 1974 upon discharge, Jim co-authored with Howard Blane, Ph.D., Pitt Professor and author of several books on substance abuse, two publications in the Journal of Military Medicine on Military Substance Abuse Treatment. After the military, Jim worked in both mental health and substance abuse program management positions in the Pittsburgh area. Prior to starting 21st Century EAP, Jim worked with national consulting firms both as a consultant and executive coach, helping hospitals and EAP programs improve the efficiency of their operations. At 21st Century EAP, Jim provides the overall management of the Company and is in charge of designing and arranging all training services for our client companies. He is also a management consultant and executive coach.
